Parliamentary Power Checks and Governor - Part 15

In this audio lecture some legislative powers of the Parliament have been discussed which are important from the perspective of questions that can be asked in competitive examinations. Also the means and measure that the legislature of a Parliament can adopt in order to exert pressure and ask answers from the Executive have also been discussed in this Audio Lecture.

Normally Parliament or Assembly sessions begins daily with question hours, where members can ask any minister on the issues related to their departments. In the remaining day, the house will have to take up business decided in the business advisory committee. Some thing what time-table.

Zero hour comes between question hour and regular business, where members can raise the issues of urgent importance that pertained to the people, though that issue may not figure in the business of the house. Normally zero hours gives place for raising important and current affairs.

The power of the Governors are very important when seen from the perspective of exercising the control and influence of the central government over the state government. The centre can influence the functioning of the states by keeping a checking through head of the state powers of a Governor as he the Constitutional head of the state and no bill can be deemed to be passed by the state without the assent of the Governor.
